Oh, it sucks off road, its too large/tall to even consider taking off road! the gearing is SOOOOO long that you basically need to clutch your way into almost 20km/h! too quick for many off road situations.
I think that it could be a good easy-trail bike, specially if you only have one bike, the ground clearance is not bad and neither is suspension travel

Oh! Just seeing this! That looks like a sweet ride. I have the baby brother version of it which desperately needs some better (read: 60/40 or 50/50) tires.
How is it for commuting? Enjoying it? I’d kill to take one of those on a trail here sometime.

Its actually not a good trail bike, but here in Mexico with such bad roads and many speed humps its a blessing. It has suffices power and it fits me (1.88m tall) like a glove, its not a good sounding bike tho. Its not very wide but its noticeably wider than the italikas here, so lane splitting is much harder.

I rode with a few other GS owners once, though we did primarily gravel roads and not exactly beaten goat trails. I think a heavy GS’s place is really something more like this- no traffic, not exactly hardcore offroad, just long distances on less than paved roads.
Having ridden it, would you ever want to own one?

Although the tall suspension is good for these (awful) roads I think that it’s too heavy, not very controllable, and too wide; its kinda slugish. I see the appeal of the GS, specially if you live somewhere less urban, but here in Mexico City (or as hip people call it “CDMX” ) I don’t know, I think i’d rather have something slightly more civilian, say an f 800 gt or f 800 r .
I don’t know, really, I wouldn’t go full on sport bike, but definitely something lower than the GS. I think I’d definitely take the f 800 GT, or a used ST. I also like the Husqvarna Nuda, but its also sort of an ADV.

Hmm, all those bikes have Bombardier Rotax engines; maybe I should just buy crate and make my own frame(but only when I finally change my handle to “TheEngineer”)
